Dear Prospective"Charter Member" of the East Jackson Eagle Band,

It is with honor and pride that I extend to you the rare opportunity to be a founding member of the new East Jackson High School Eagle Band. With this letter is your personal invitation to establish the first traditions of a band program that will pursue national and international acclaim. I am very confident that the musical legacy we establish will be phenomenal as each year goes by. We are soliciting hard-working kids and parents who want to have fun and enjoy the glamour of starting a rich tradition for the EAST.

My name is Jeffrey Rowser, a native of Attalla, Alabama, where I attended Etowah HS and later received my Bachelors and Master degrees from Auburn University. I am married to the former Vernelle Jones, and we have three daughters; Kayla, 18; Hilary, 14; and Carmen, 6. The highlight of my college career was serving three years as Drum Major of the Auburn University Marching Band, while participating in Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Concert Choir.

The East Jackson Band cluster will consist of East Jackson Middle and Kings Bridge Middle School Bands. Collectively, we will establish a tradition and expectation of excellence in music performance. I have no doubt that you will be pleased as we embark on another great band in Jackson County School System. Starting a new band program is historic and will mean most to you long after your high school years.

Our band program will offer a great deal of performance opportunities from which to choose. We will have an award-winning marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, colorguard, and winterguard as well as small woodwind, brass and percussion ensembles. At this time we are seeking a firm commitment from students who will choose to join us in establishing our East Jackson High School Band.

It is not unusual for band students to graduate with honors or be a national merit scholar. Band members at EJHS will be involved in AP classes, choir, yearbook, football, tennis, cheerleading, soccer, baseball, track, swimming, gymnastics, youth groups, and many will hold part time jobs. The fact is you can be in band and do many things; of course, careful planning is VERY IMPORTANT.

I look forward to working with you. If any student or parent has a question of concern please contact me at: jrowser@jackson.k12.ga.us or my home email: jrsaxy1@aol.com Currently, I spend office hours at East Jackson MS (706-335-6075) and Jackson County HS (706-367-5003 ext. 268).

Musically,
Jeffrey Rowser Director of Bands David VanBuren Associate Director
