Overview
The Colorguard of East Jackson Marching Band will combine dance, theatrical performances, and the manipulation of flags, sabers, and rifles into simultaneous artistry and pageantry. The Colorguard of a marching band represents the visual story line of the music presented by the musicians. The Colorguard at East Jackson High School will be a major part of the band and will have all the opportunities to perform and travel with the East Jackson Marching Eagle Band. !

Eligibility
To participate in the East Jackson Colorguard you must qualify through an audition process. Any student, male or female, enrolled at East Jackson High School will be eligible to participate depending on the results of the audition. Prior to an official audition date, several training practices will take place to develop skills in flag, rifle and saber technique; dance and body movement to varying tempo and style will also be emphasized. Students interested will be given advance notice so you can schedule your personal calendar to include attendance at all Pre-Training Colorguard Sessions. An optional Winterguard (Indoor Guard) will be discussed during the Fall Marching season.

Additional Information
Preparation sessions to get ready for Auditions! Earn 3 points towards your audition score for each "preparation session" you attend---up to 30 of the 100 available points. During the training session you will learn to spin the flag, rifle and learn dance skills from ballet to hip-hop. We will also introduce character role playing from a TV-Movie stage perspective. Come and learn about costumes, stage make-up, and of course hair styling. Each session will offer you more and more knowledge of what the East Jackson Marching Band Colorguard will become. It is especially fun if you have some friends enjoying this activity with you. The Colorguard gets all the special privileges and rights of the Marching Band musician. At the training session you will receive a packet of information discussing the rules and time obligations for being involved in the East Jackson HS Band. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE NEEDED. We will teach you what you need to know.
