How to make Marching Band Camp easy as pie! "THE RECIPE"
Get fit during the summer - Drink proper fluids - Use sunscreen - Get some rest
1. Be on time, on time is defined as being early.
2. Have your transportation planned ahead of time.
3. Wear proper clothing - shorts, t-shirt, bring a hat for outdoor rehearsals, sunglasses.
4. Wear comfortable tennis shoes and socks to protect your feet and prevent blisters, no flip flops or crocs for outdoor rehearsals.
5. Don't forget a hat and sunglasses----sunscreen too.
6. Use at least 30 or higher sunscreen blocker. You will not be able to give 100% if you are sunburned. With our practice field being without trees, make sure you work hard to protect your neck, face and back of legs.
7. If you feel unreasonably sick, let someone know or sit on the sidelines until you regain strength (10 minutes usually is enough). You must learn to recover fast; practice is not productive if you are not on the field to learn the show.
8. Students and parents will serve as providers of water; you may bring your own water or sports drink. Totally avoid soda prior to rehearsal. If you must have a soda, bring a "barf bag" to re-capture your soda when you throw up.
9. FINISH YOUR WATER during the water break. Water is for drinking NOT water fights. You will get in trouble for wasting water.
10. All trash and drink cans, bottles and cups should be placed in the trash can.
11. Bring food for lunch and some type of energizing snack.
12. Put your name on all of your personal items. Bring only things needed for rehearsal purposes (instrument, music, pencil, drill dot card, drill charts.
13. Neither the band or nor school is responsible for lost or stolen items.
14. Absolutely no food or drink will be in the band room. The trash can is your cousin, be nice to it and keep it full.
15. Use only the restrooms in the Fine Arts Wing (F-Wing).
16. All school board rules and regulations are activated for all band events, including but not limited to rehearsals, performances, and travel opportunity.
17. Being courteous and respectful to band staff, parents and each other.
18. Have a positive mental attitude. Get prepared to endure the heat.
20. We are expected to have a great band at East Jackson High School.
WE CAN, WE MUST, AND WE WILL.
