Philosophy of the Student Leadership Development Program
Leadership development is a VERY important asset to the success of a band program and the life of a band director. I feel so strongly about student leadership that I teach it in conjunction with the regular band class goals and objectives. Leadership training will be integrated into all elements of my teaching style. I believe leadership is the ability of a single individual through his or her actions to motivate others to higher levels of achievement and responsibility. It should be boldly stated that every individual is unique but not all are leaders. Leadership responsibility is not very everyone.
Leadership is a dedication to SERVICE and SACRIFICE. Leadership is the ability to inspire, communicate, motivate, encourage, and support your and others' quest for excellence in all aspects of life. It is the ability to do what is right and avoid the pitfalls of doing something just because it is the popular thing to do. Leadership is practiced not so much in words as it is in attitude and in actions. It is not fair to ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself. Leadership is doing what is right when no one is watching.
It is an esteemed privilege and honor to announce the Inaugural Leadership Team
