NOW is the time to start researching and planning for your future! Students of all ages and their parents are invited to our 2nd Annual College Night at JCCHS on Tuesday, October 7th at 7:00 PM in the JCCHS Café.
This is your opportunity to meet with representatives from colleges such as Young Harris, Brenau, Athens Technical College, Kennesaw State University, Valdosta State University, Georgia Gwinnett College, Columbus State, the University of West Georgia, Piedmont College, ABAC, the University of North Georgia, Darton State, Lincoln College of Technology, and Georgia Regents University.
We will also have a representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission who will provide information on scholarships, Georgia’s HOPE and Zell Miller scholarship programs and financial aid.
JCCHS is offering on-campus dual enrollment courses for seniors through the University of North Georgia for the 2015-2016 school year. Interested students and parents are invited to attend an information session on Tuesday, October 21, at 7:00 PM in the JCCHS Media Center. UNG advisors will be on hand to answer all questions regarding their on-campus and off-campus programs.
To be enrolled in the dual enrollment program at JCCHS through UNG, students must meet the following criteria:
- Present a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better
- Present a minimum SAT score of 970 combined critical reading and math with a minimum of 480 critical reading and 440 math, or
- ACT composite of 20 with minimum scores of 20 English and 18 Math

The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 15, during the school day at JCCHS. 10th graders will take the test at no charge. Any 9th or 11th grader who is interested in taking the PSAT will be able to pay a $14 test fee and take the PSAT, as well. Registration for 9th and 11th graders will take place the week of September 8-12. Students should see a counselor, Mrs. McCutcheon or Ms. Sanders, to pay their test fee and obtain the study guide; counselors will also be available during all lunch periods in the Cafeteria. 10th graders do not need to register for the PSAT.
